Hockey Audition NIKE
On Sunday we told you about an audition in L.A. for a hockey commercial; specifically, to play a Canadian in a hockey commericial, and it turned out to be a spot for Nike.
Well, the audition is done, and here’s some details about how it went. From The Bob Gentry Journal:
I just returned from an audition for a commercial today. They were looking for Hockey Players to be featured with NHL players and look like part of their team. The posting said they wanted guys who are at least 6’1 and around 200lbs and so…I gave it a shot. That’s pretty much all I knew about it until I got there and was told it was a NIKE commercial. There were a few REALLY good skaters there but for the most part 70% couldn’t even skate backwards (some guys were even falling over).
It started out with about 50 guys there….and after a little while, they told everyone to go home except 10 of us (They kept me for more drills).
You’ll have to got to Bob’s webpage to view the video footage of his audition. He won’t know until Tuesday if he’s made the cut.
The audition notice specifically called for actors who could play “members of the Canadian Hockey Team.” You gotta wonder how they decide which Americans will make the best “Canadians”.
Hopefully it’s by choosing the ones that weren’t falling over…;-)

I bet the “Canadians” were chosen based on mullet style and length!

Nah. More like based on beer consumption and how many times they could use “Eh?” in a sentence without sounding idiotic.
Which is a special talent, eh? (Har har.)

Hi Jeff and Alanah!
Thanks much for the Pingback
*”You gotta wonder how they decide which Americans will make the best “Canadians”*
I thought the same thing
There were no speaking lines from the guys who auditioned so we didn’t have to worry about saying “eh”
This was unlike ANY audition I’ve ever been at… I didn’t get “the call” but I was happy just to get to gear up and skate. I was seriously shocked at just how many guys kept falling over (quite funny).
By the way…i LOVE Canadians …Besides, you guys have Ketchup Chips! Raised near Detroit, we used to cross the border quite often… and being in Canada was a breath of fresh air.
Great Site, by the way

ya know…i ordered a box not too long ago and still have some left
We need to learn from our neighbors above
here in the states, we are just not creative enough in the Chip Department
No sweat on the audition.. that’s how those things go..win some, lose some…I’d much rather play hockey than a pretend player on TV

haha-this is cool
i’ve been looking for the commercial on the tube
not sure it’ll be shown since niedermayer aint on the olympic team right now…
but the strip steak and tuna tar tar all on the grill were a great way to start the shoot-wow
it’s great that you have footage of the dingy van nuys rink audition, good job and sorry bob-it’s whatevas
-it turned out fun but it was a long day
makes me want to do extra work all the time-they treat you like kings-but only a couple of the 6-8 guys will be shown…i wore team canada as sakic, but they decided there were two many niedermayer teammates in the specific shot and so the ice shot would only feature niedermayer against two defenseman…we’ll be in the locker room shot if the commercial runs…but it was fun but it was still work…but i will say it was fun work.
great page here-i’ll have to visit everything more some.
p.s. -i’m chinese (and american)-go figure…but on my way and very close to the mullet

Don’t do the mullet, Ryan. Don’t.
It can all go terribly wrong.
