The Good. The Bad. The Ugly. The Funny.
Dallas v. Vancouver, Part II. (We’re hanging on by a thread here…)
“I think we were undisciplined, we took too many penalties and I think our power play wasn’t as good as we needed it. The effort was there at times, just not at the right times.”
Markus Naslund, March 13th, Dallas
The Good
Daniel Sedin / Anson Carter / Henrik Sedin
Is the 2nd line really the 1st line? Who cares what you call it. For practical purposes, they are the 1st line, whether it’s just for now or forever. Unfortunately, they’re not winning games for us, but at least they make losing efforts bearable to watch.
The Bad
Everybody Else.
Okay, not a totally fair statement - more than a few Canucks showed-up for the Dallas game Monday night. But god, can’t anyone on this team score anymore? In the last 4 games, the Canucks have produced 6 goals & 12 assists. 16 of those points were earned by the SCS trio mentioned above. It’s not just the Naslund line that’s struggling. Every single player on the team - except the triplets - has forgotten how to score.
The Ugly
Mike Modano.
In the context of today’s NHL, the Hockey Hall of Fame and general Modern Hockey Greatness, we think Modano’s swell (and maybe he’s even a good guy). But in the context of games against the Vancouver Canucks, we just want him dead. Arrggh.
The Funny
Alexandre Burrows…
Like a human-zamboni, he was clearing goalie Marty Turco’s pretty little snow piles from around his net, getting Marty all crazy in the head. Are we supposed to be upset about Burrows’ petty little game of psychological warfare? Sorry, we’re not. That was funny.
