Hockey Blog Talk

We’re reading way too much hockey stuff this week. A sampling:

On the Wings wanted Scott Hartnell’s blood after the Nashville game, commenting “If you need to ask why I dislike Hartnell, you’ve never seen him play.” A2Y entertains us with the puking in Motown: “Vomit” is a word we don’t see enough of. Strong as a noun or verb, fun to say, great to watch. Vomit…vomit..vomit. Fun, huh?” And sadly, us Canucks fans sink lower into the slime as we cheer Detroit over the Sharks tonight.

Hanging Sergei Samsonov out with the wash made for a great pic Tuesday on VCOE. Then we remembered Matt at the Battle of Alberta who cited this article last week which called Samsonov “Slicker than whale droppings.” We’re thinking this is the perfect chant at the Garage tonight. (Note: How does an Edmonton newspaper convince itself that “slicker than whale droppings” is a flattering nickname? Not that we’re complaining…)

The Ice Block (via Bolts Mag) entertained us discussing a dumb-ass lawsuit happening because of an old Tampa Bay vs Philadelphia game. Something about guy#1 throwing his plastic beer cup at guy#2. Naturally guy#2 sues the Tampa Forum.

But if you ask us, the real story here is that Tampa actually hosts fan nights called “All You Can Drink Night”. Madness! Stanley Cups and free pours? Frankly, I wanna sue them now, too.

J.J. at Canucks Blog was chased around for a day by CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada cameras last month. Last night, CBC broadcasted his adventures on the news (or so we hear - we tried to tape the piece, but it didn’t work for some reason). We were a bit jealous about this, but then we faced facts: J.J. really is too cute not to put on tv…! P.S. If someone has a digital recording of the Adventures of J.J., let him know. He needs to get this thing online. Very cool stuff. [UPDATE: J.J.’s CBC footage is online here.  Excellent!!!]

J.C. ain’t no Leafs fan. Sharkspage reprints an interview with Sharks phenom Jonathan Cheechoo. Cheechoo grew up in Ontario, but was a Vancouver Canucks fan as a kid. Why? Because mom loved them. Hockey moms are smart cookies, so maybe there’s hope for these Canucks yet? We shall trust the hockey instincts of Jonanthan Cheechoo’s mom. (On the other hand, she’s probably cheering on San Jose these days… traitor.)

You know how they say that the camera adds 10 pounds to you? That’s not true. It adds about 20. Or more. :|

Anyhoo, I had someone send me a copy of the video last night, but it’s 259 MB big. I’ll try to compress it and put it up for everyone’s amusement tonight. (Silly work internet doesn’t give me access to hotmail or blogger.)

  2. Vancouver Canucks Op Ed Says:

We’ll look forward to it, J.J. It’s probably just great! And maybe it’s just the first step on your way to working a regular feature at HNIC… ;-)
