Prize Winners & Donations

[Update: Donations have continued to trickle in today and the new total is US$809.00. Also, I received a very nice email from Canuck Place Children’s Hospice today, thanking everyone for their support. Well done, hockey fans!]

I’ve finally drawn the names out a hat today (actually, a stainless steel mixing bowl) and I have the winners of the 5 prizes donated by other hockey bloggers. A big thanks to Kukla’s Korner, Canucks Hockey Blog and Behind the Jersey for contributing these gifts!

Prizes

The prizes include 2 gift certificates, a hockey book, a pair of Vancouver Canucks mugs and a copy of the commemorative Steve Yzerman Sports Illustrated.

I’ll inform the winners who won what by email shortly. But since all of them have their own blogs as it turns out, I thought I’d go ahead and plug their websites here. I know that everyone who contributed pledges did so without any expectations of prizes. Thank you all for your generosity — At last count, $809.00 was raised for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice!

Please Send Your Donations

Regarding everyone’s pledges. You should receive an email from Blogathon with a reminder about your agreed-upon donation. I haven’t received mine yet, so maybe it takes a few days. Please contact me if you require any help.

Meanwhile, when you’re ready to send in your donation, here are your options:

Click here to pay Canuck Place directly by credit card.

Or you can reach them by phone at 604.731.4847 (Toll-free in BC 1.877.882.2288).

Or send in a cheque or money order to this address:

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice

Note: All of these options are to send the money directly to Canuck Place. I can’t - and won’t - handle anyone’s money myself.

I see none of the winners are SLOVAK. Hmph, you’ll be hearing from the Human Rights Commission soon >:(

BTW, I bumped up my donation to $25 and processed it. Now, kids will be able to die in peace knowing Jarkko Ruutu is on some other team. :)

  2. Vancouver Canucks Op Ed Says:

Honest to god, Jes. For that comment, I expect you to bump your donation to $100.

And how do you know some of the winners aren’t Slovaks? There you go, making assumptions again… ;-)

  3. Zanstorm Says:

Hey alright, we won something? I’ll give my prize to Golbez if it makes him feel better!
Sorry, I’m not Slovak. I’m better…I’m Dutch Canadian!

  4. Vancouver Canucks Op Ed Says:

Zanstorm (and all the winners): I’ve now sent emails to the addresses you provided on your pledges. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks everyone - winners and non-winners alike. (Even Jes!)

  5. Jes Golbez Says:

Zanstorm, my mother’s side is all Dutch, so I’m a half breed of Dutch craziness. Why do you think I’m so screwed up?

Jiri Slegr retired back to the Czech league today…’tis a sad day, indeed :(

Slovaks know other Slovaks! We have that sense.

Jiri Slegr retired back to the Czech league today

Does this mean that you’ll finally stop trying to pimp him out to me?

    Never!!!

Well, actually, I have a new client for you ;)

  8. Stormbringer Says:

You’re welcome AND thank you!! :)

  9. Drew Says:

I’m sorry I didn’t get involved in helping you out, but it looks like you did well both in the blogging and the fund raising.

I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that I’ve added your site to my blogroll. I look forward to seeing how you’ll make fun of the Red Wings next.

    Take care,
    Drew

  10. Vancouver Canucks Op Ed Says:

Thanks, Drew! I think I’m overdue an Avs joke, actually. I owe someone a Moment with Patrick Roy joke, I do believe… :-)

    (it’s coming, Christy!)

  11. GZ Expat Says:

Ohhh…I didn’t win. I was way too jet lag eyed to blog the evening of the 29th…so, I caught up the next day. SO, glad to see the big bucks being raised…you should be proud Alanah! Having that much blog traffic…and that many blog readers that care!

    Great work…

Now for the tragic news…I am in Portland and shopping for a Canucks sweater here is probably like trying to find a Wings sweater in Vancouver. The sports shop I went into yesterday was probably 200 sq ft of NFL, NBA, NCAA and MLB jerseys…and 2 hooks of USA and Canada sweaters. Arrgghghghhghg. Despite the Winterhawks, this city is hopeless.

On to Phoenix tomorrow…where I will NOT be purchasing a Puppies sweater.

  12. Zanstorm Says:

Jes, the Dutch aren’t crazy, we are cheap!

  13. Daz Says:

Cool, I won something. Think I’m gonna go get a lotto ticket now.

  14. Temujin Says:

    Any Scotsman there? Woo Hoo!
