All Star Voting Madness
Earlier this week, Canucks Hockey Blog wrote about the bizarre internet campaign to vote Rory Fitzpatrick into the 2007 All Star Game.
“Not intended as a shot on Rory but more of a means to point out the flaws in the league’s voting system - where one can vote as many times as they want - the internet campaign has gained unbelievable steam.”
So I thought I’d post Fitzgerald’s campaign video. I don’t know what I love more: smartass hockey fans or the internet.;-)
Note: For more All Star fun, don’t forget Modano’s All Star campaign…

The Nickelback just sells it. God damn.
Smartasses + YouTube = Goodbye, life.

I’ve noticed the “Vote for Rory” campaign, too, and I’m interested to see how the NHL handles this. So far, there are dozens of fans claiming the league is hiding the write-in numbers because of the “Vote for Rory” movement. This is either going to be a red-faced moment for the NHL, or it’s just another example of the Internet community buying into its own hype and believing its own influence is greater than it is. (”Snakes on a Game,” anyone?)
