Burning Oil
[Post-Game Update Below]
I’m in Vancouver tonight, attending tonight’s Vancouver-Edmonton game. More about that tomorrow, but I’m betting we win… I believe I might be exactly the good luck charm they’ve been waiting for.;-)
A couple of notes:
– Roberto Luongo is sounding cocky with the media, and looking comfortable in the net. I’m happy to see it, but I have renewed fears about that tattoo.
– Rick Rypien is the Man. But then again, I like anyone that can body slam an opposing player through the boards and get into a fight, all on the same shift.
– From the Vancouver Sun: The Canucks have won four of their last five at home, outscoring the opposition 10-6. (Nice, although the fact that we’re a team that should be happy with 10 goals in five freakin’ games still depresses me.)
– The secret to Dwayne Roloson’s goaltending success? Rick Nash says: “That’s the first time that’s ever happened to me. I’ve been cracked in the back of the legs or in the back. That’s bad enough. But it’s a dirty move, spearing somebody between the legs. It’s unbelievable to me that he would do that.”
– The Oilers are without Hemsky, Moreau and now Ryan Smyth. A depleted offense which might just make them beatable.
Here’s hoping. Beating Edmonton is just good times.
Note: More from Battle of Alberta who points out:
“I’d be more optimistic about beating the lowest scoring team in the league (2.15 Goals Per Game) if we hadn’t just been shutout by the second lowest scoring team in the league (2.16 Goals Per Game), and already lost to the third lowest scoring team in the league (2.28 Goals Per Game).”
Post-Game
Apparently I’m not such a good luck charm. (I promise to never, ever attend a Canucks game again…) The end.

“Rick Rypien” sounds like a kick ass rocker or sexy sleazy wrestler from the WWF of the 80’s. Either way, pretty impressive :p

Rick Rypien probably needed an IV after he gushed a gallon of blood all over Laperriere during that fight.

[…] On a much lighter note, the Oilers are in town tonight as well as Alanah, our Crazy Canucks Podcast cohort from Vancouver Canucks Op Ed. The Oilers are without Hemsky, Moreau and now Ryan Smyth. A depleted offense which might just make them beatable. Here’s hoping. Beating Edmonton is just good times. […]

Wow. A 4-0 loss and 3 injured Canucks… what the hell.
Alanah, maybe you should attend some Canucks away games. Maybe your voodoo only works on the home team…

I’m just glad you are not a Pavol Demitra fan. Who knows what would happen to him if you showed up to one of his games.

Plus there were three Canucks injuries last night. It’s kinda surprising that I haven’t been arrested…
