Thursday’s Quote Sheet

This week’s Thursday Quote Sheet is full of coaches. 9 quotes total.

(Thanks to everyone for the tips!)

Blue Jackets’ Anders Eriksson on Rick Nash getting slashed in a sensitive area: “He took one in the next generation.”

Asked to name their favourite NHL road cities:
Ray Emery: “I like Tampa. There’s a mall in Tampa that has no shortage of talent.”

Jason Spezza: “I definitely concur that there’s lots of talent in Tampa.”

“Goalies are much more normal now. Where did all the crazy ones go?”

Darren Pang misses the madness.

“One of my pet peeves is playing at home around the holidays because of all the distractions. You’re asked to spend more time with your families and you get extra calls from the marketing department for appearances.”

Predators’ coach Barry Trotz isn’t all that excited about that Christmas Cheer/Home for the Holidays crap.

“I don’t even know how to get into blogs. I don’t do any e-mails. I don’t do any of that stuff.”

Lightning Coach John Tortorella discovers that defenceman Doug Janik has a blog, and apparently has no idea what Janik is telling people…

“It was a head shot to the league’s leading scorer. If the league’s not going to protect these players, well, OK, but then we’ll all carry hired guns and take care of it that way.”

New York Rangers coach Tom Renney referring to a recent hit on Jaromir Jagr.

“I treat players like men and they should act like men. JR, all and all, has been pretty positive. But the reality is, last night he made a mistake. … There will be ramifications for what happened.”

Phoenix coach Wayne Gretzky suggest there will be discipline in store for Jeremy Roenick. JR left the arena this week when he was scratched for a game. (More from the incident here. it’s a J.R. quote bonanza…)

“I can’t believe all their skill and talent have gone out the window.”

Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault ponders the lack of scoring this season by some of his struggling players. Nearly all of them, frankly.

“None of it was printable. Often, you don’t exactly remember what it was you said. It doesn’t have to be coherent, just loud enough and profane enough.”

Toronto Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice ‘motivates’ his team this past Tuesday night. From a deficit of 3-1 before the tirade, the Leafs finished off Tampa Bay 5-4.

Roli must suffer for that ball buster! >O

… more than he suffered by losing that particular game! >O!!

I’m sure Nash is already planning the payback… :)
